Born and raised in the Big D, sports played a central role in Devon's upbringing. From a young age, basketball became his passion, shaping his athletic journey and defining his path of resilience and recovery.
Devon's basketball journey commenced at Woodrow Wilson High School, where he spent four years leaving an indelible mark on the court. As a varsity player, he was instrumental in a dominant team that regularly outperformed opponents by an impressive 30-point margin. This success garnered attention from college recruiters, culminating in a scholarship offer from the University of New Mexico during his senior year.

On the court, he experienced the thrill of winning a regular-season Mountain West Championship and two tournament championships, leading to appearances in the NCAA tournament.
